The Olde Couch House Inn

This is a very tranquil and charming pub, it’s somewhere where you can go to sit by a crackling fire and warm up on a cold winters night, it is located on the outskirts of Rugby in a village called Ashby St ledges.
However this pub and the Manor House located not far from the pub has some very strong links to our English heritage, the pub is were Guy Fawkes met his men to discuss the plot to blow the House of Parliament in 1605. He lived in the Manor House which is located within the village.
The pub is very charming pub, me and my partner stayed their over night, when arriving we was very much welcomed by all the staff and we said the reason why we pick the pub for our stay, being the link to Guy Fawkes, they explained the pub and the Manor House to us, we also was informed of ghost sightings outside the pub, one of these being a woman walking past the pub holding an oil lamp.

The rooms are very well decorated with a cottage feeling to them, and the rooms not numbed but named, we stayed within the room Guy Fawkes room, I think this gives it unique feel to your stay.

The next day we took a walk through the village which has a number old style houses with thatch roofs, the village does appear very quite but charming, the Manor House is located at the end of the road which is about mile long, we was only able to visit the outside, the Manor house is built of sand stone bricks with a drive leading up to it with a well maintained lawn.

We made our way back to the pub for a Sunday roast which was divine, it is the perfect couple get away to relax and recharge your batteries.
